Born out of template frustration and a creative itch, Adaptive Skins is a Wordpress template that I’m developing into a skinning solution that anyone can use and enjoy with no technical knowledge.
Have you even done this? You want a blog on your very own site, so you install Wordpress and then go on a journey looking for a template to give your site some personality, but instead you end up wasting hours and have nothing that you would call your own. Fact is, there are thousands of free Wordpress templates out there; cheep, cookie cutter, over used throw away themes that just don’t cut the cake. That’s what I found myself in, an endless circle of looking at the same templates over and over, with nothing doing anything for me. I even tried customizing them to my taste.
For me, I want a system that is visually identifiable and very easy to customize, a template package that is logically created with people in mind. And so started my quest to create a flexible light weight Wordpress skin using the K.I.S.S. principle to do everything I want it to while adhering to standards, including reflect my creative side.
The result has been a long time coming, but the time is nearing as I put the finishing touches on the base template and prepare for my first release. I’m hoping that others enjoy the simple skinning concept and take full advantage of the endless number of schemes that the imagination can dream of. I like to call it my all in one template solution for any Wordpress project, and I’m looking forward to see the endless sea of creative spirits showing off their colors and imaginations. I’m so tired of the same old look, aren’t you?
