Expand your vocabulary with the 60,000-entry Dictionary of American English (DARE), which documents regional difference in everyday language, from Adam’s housecat to zydeco. The product of nearly 50 years of scholarship, DARE is NEH’s oldest continually-supported project. Volume V of DARE, covering Sl-Z, will be published on March 20 by Harvard University Press.
