  • [Released] HATARI – Atari ST/STE/TT/Falcon Emulator

    Posted by GregoryRasputin , on 11/03/2012 , @ 10:03

Rtype a developer from PSX Scene has compiled Hatari for the PS3, Hatari is an Atari Emulator, here is a quote from the read me:

    spacer

    ————————————————————

A Lame hatari 1.6.1 DBG release for PS3.

    ————————————————————

What?: A quick port of hatari 1.6.1 to ps3 using PSL1GHTV2.
Why? : Because i like old atari computer spacer
    Who? : Rtype

So far ,i ve just compil the lastest hatari src (1.6.1) with psl1ghtv2 (SDL used) and i only make few hacks to done it work (a little) .
All the credit to the HATARI TEAM ( hatari.tuxfamily.org ) and to the PS3DEV team .

    ————————————————————

    Know Problems:

    - Works only with a keyboard & a mouse cnx to the ps3 !

    - Some pb with SDL1.2 hatari code (ex: code Keysym 1.2 different from 1.3) so i make quick dirty hack , not all the keys are working
and it’s seem to break a lot keyrepeat .

    - Hatari & sdlgui use partial screen update , and PS3 SDL don’t have hardware cursor code , so i make another quick & very bad hack to
show something we can call a mouse pointer (hum i know it’s a square) and force the gui redraw , this make the gui very bad and slow,
and there is a big lag between mouse action and screen update. Apologize for this.

    - In fullscreen mode Gui seem not working correctly so change to desktop mode if needed.

    - XMB seem to freeze PS3 when calling from home button so exit from the gui or AltGr-Q combo.

    - I ve not tested all the option , just few games , so maybe other pb around …

Sorry for all this problems but i hope you enjoy anyway ( i mean Atari lovers ) somes old good games .

    ————————————————————

    Quick Install & Start:

    - Create somes dir in /dev_hdd0/ :

    /dev_hdd0/HOMEBREW and /dev_hdd0/HOMEBREW/ST/ and /dev_hdd0/HOMEBREW/ST/TOS/ and /dev_hdd0/HOMEBREW/ST/CONF/

    - Put a valid tos named “rom” in:

    /dev_hdd0/HOMEBREW/ST/TOS/

    - Put some ST/MSA dsk in :

    /dev_hdd0/HOMEBREW/ST/

    - Install the pkg .

    ————————————————————

    INGAME CONTROLS :

    works only with a keyboard & a mouse !
    joystick:LSTICK= JOY MOVE CROSS= Button1 SQUARE= button2

    ————————————————————

    Credit:

Special thanks to PS3DEV guys , KaKaRoTo (very big thanks for your works) , Hermes ,Oopo , Deroad (for help with V2) .

  • [Released] Custom Firmware Validator

    Posted by GregoryRasputin , on 08/03/2012 , @ 06:03

Developers Grimm and Berion have created an application, which checks and PS3 firmware you have downloaded, it reads all information on the firmware and tells you whether the firmware is MFW or OFW, the application also works with PSP and PS Vita firmwares, though the main basis of the application is for PS3 firmwares, here is a quote from the ReadMe:

    spacer

    Hello.

Custom Firmware Validator is a program designed mainly for veryfing downloaded or manually patched firmwares for PS3. This aplication compares checksums from the database with those which are being calculated on the currently open file. If at least one would match, the following things will appear: the name of the firware and its short description, the option to show the list of additional functions and the option to visit the author’s webpage, also one could copy a file onto USB with the proper directory stuctrure and its name (PS3, PSP, PSV).

Databases are external, written in the stardard XML and UTF-8 coded, so everyone can edit them and propose any possible corrections, what we encourage you to do.

We prepared three different bases for the program (the one for PS3 is loaded by default, but one can choose others from the option menu):
    - The first one for PS3 (currently with all CFW/OFW (*.pup) and upadate packages *.pkg for Rebug and TB dongle).
    - The other ones function as examples and need to be completed.

Please be advised: in order for Custom Firmware Validator to work properly Microsoft .NET Framework 4 at least ver. 4.0 is required. the program works on windows 7 – was not tested on XP, Vista or 8 (Developers/Consumers Preview).

    Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Do you plan to make databases updates?
A: Yes, but only the one for PS3. In this aspect we count on the community’s involvement. ;]

Q: Do you plan to release program updates?
A: Sure, but it depends on whether the submitted errors could be verified and whether we have ideas for new functions.

Q: What checksums are generated and will you add new in the future?
    A: CRC32 (CRC32b), MD5, SHA1, SHA2-224, SHA2-256, SHA2-386 and SHA2-512. In future, probably SHA3. Others not, for the time being.

Q: Can I use CFV in order to generate checksums from other files than consoles’ firmware?
A: Yes, basically the source of no importance, because the program reads descriptions and checksums which can be freely edited and picked from the options menu.

    Q: Is CFV legal?
A: Yes, it is, it doesn’t contain any keys/hashes used to sign files.

Q: Could I modify my console using the program?
    A: Nah…

  • [Update]PS3DevWiki Remarry Guide – Remarry BD Drive On Firmware 3.55

    Posted by GregoryRasputin , on 06/03/2012 , @ 06:03

Before when one wanted to remarry their BD Drive, they needed to downgrade their console to 3.50, but thankfully due to an awesome anonymous person/persons, this can now be accomplished on firmware 3.55, here is a quote from the source:

    Remarry guide for 3.55 firmware

    1. Have the console on a working 3.55 firmware

    2. Download the Remarry files (remarry-3.55.rar) and unpack to root of USM Mass Storage device. The following line is already changed from 1 to 0:

    #———————————————
    # Install Systemsoftware
    # 0 = sȂ
    # 1 = s
    #———————————————-
    0

This will make sure the drive init PUP is not installed, thus preventing RLOD because of syscon hashes on downgraded consoles.

    3. Download official firmware <=3.30 as drive init PUP and put it root of USB Mass Storage device

Content of USB Mass Storage device should be thus be:

    • Lv2diag.self
    • manufacturing_updater_for_reset.self
    • fdm_spu_module.self
    • PS3UPDAT.PUP
    • cfg/standalone.cfg

    4. Put the service mode JIG/dongle/PSGrade into port 0 (closest to the reader) and get into factory service mode.

    5. Put the created USB Mass Storage device from step 3 into port 0 (closest to the reader) and run.

Drive Init Executing means it is starting the remarry process
Drive Init Failed with big pink letters ‘NG’ (No Good!) means the process failed. Most likely solved by fixing the communication issue with the drive.

    6. After you run the initial remarry process, do not take it out of factory service mode.

    7. Put a BD movie disc in and run it on the PS3. (This restores your DRL files!)

    8. Then you can take it out of factory service mode.

    9. Launch as normal.

    Source and files

Remember, that all and everything related to the PS3 can be found at:

Thanks euss for the tip spacer

    Update

    - Small error fixed, FDM is resigned proper now for all versions (3.15, 3.50, 3.55)

    www.ps3devwiki.com/files/lv2diag/remarry/

    ^previous posted question, answered:

    - Yes, PUP files are international, nothing PAL/Euro or NTSC/USA about them spacer

    - For Bluray playback prohibited errors, you can use
    Recovery
    + Remarry, or the
    DRL tools.
For the latter you dont need the exact last played disc, just the highest keyversion that was used.

    - In some rare cases enabling QA-extra solves dive init issues.

  • [Released] Condor Updater v1.0

    Posted by GregoryRasputin , on 05/03/2012 , @ 10:03

Im sure all of you know who CondorStrike is by now, he is the creator of the awesome ‘Solar’ app, today he has released an app, that should save a bit of time and the annoyance of holding the power button.

    spacer

His app, puts the PS3 into a pseudo recovery mode, without having to go into recovery by holding the power button, here is a quote from the source:

This app allows pseudo-recovery mode system firmware update from xmb.
I’ve tested it with Rogero CFW and Kmeaw, but should work with any Firmware that allows the PKG to install.
No more hold down power crap…lol.

If anyone wants to try on 3.55+ to try and downgrade, my answer is try it…what’s there to loose…
It should also work on PSP and PS VITA, but I haven’t tested.
I think this is a very handy app, and as always, I hope you enjoy my releases…caw!

    steps:
    Install PKG.
    Run Condor Updater.
    PROFIT!!!

    ***Disclaimer***
I am not liable if this application disables or damages your console and or handheld, use at your own risk.

  • The Game To Run PSP Homebrew On Your PS Vita Is…..

    Posted by GregoryRasputin , on 01/03/2012 , @ 11:03

If any of you have been following the PS Vita scene, you will know that a developer, by the name of Teck4 managed to get a hello world on the PS Vita on day one, just a few hours after its official release in Japan, the method/exploit was found in the PS Vita’s PSP Emulator.

    spacer

    A NOTE
Even though you can run homebrew on the PS Vita, this is only done via the PSP Emulator, so for all sense and purpose the PS Vita IS NOT hacked, i repeat IS NOT hacked.

The name of the game was kept quiet since it was discovered, so that Sony did not patch the game needed to do the exploit, so now the Vita is in ALL regions the game can be revealed, so you can go grab it before Sony pull the game or patch it, here is a quote from Wololo:

Ok, so, since the PSN maintenance is being postponed, there is no reason for me to not give the name of the game used by Teck4 for his exploit:

The Game is Motorstorm Arctic Edge, also known as Motorstorm Raging Ice in Japan. It is available for 19.99 euro on most European Playstation Stores, 15.99 Pounds in the UK, and for 3800 yen on the Japanese store. Note for North American readers: that game, despite being available on the US Store, is marked as not compatible with the Vita in the US. People who have bought it in the US and tried to transfer it to their vita have failed as far as I know, which is why a few days ago I recommended people in the US to get a European PSN account.

    NOW WHAT’S NEXT?

Well it’s simple and stressful at the same time: I’m giving you guys a couple days to buy a copy of that game if you think VHBL is worth it (and assuming you trust that I’m not lying), and then I’ll release the VHBL files. There are pros and cons to this “2 steps” release. The cons are that you have to trust me, and there’s a possibility Sony actually patches/patched something without me knowing it, the pros are that I don’t think Sony will remove the game from their store until they actually have something to patch, so I think this gives you guys a couple days to buy the game. Or, you can wait until I release the files and other people confirm it works, at which point you run the risk that Sony patches the exploit and/or removes the game from the store before you can even buy it.

Now, let me be clear once again: buy the game if you want to play it, I have no way to guarantee VHBL will work for you, I can just tell that a few days ago this was confirmed to work by a few testers. Also keep in mind that VHBL gives you no iso, no special access to the Vita hardware, just a limited PSP homebrew experience on your vita. If like me you think it’s fun, then you might be interested. Or, if you think that 20 euros is a fair price for one of the best PSP games, then, well, just consider VHBL as a “bonus”.

VHBL has been confirmed to work on firmware 1.61. If your console asks you to update to firmware 1.62 or something, I cannot guarantee it will still work. It is also recommended, after you bought the game, to be paranoid and disconnect your console from the network, and to install openCMA. Again, there are lots of unknown things going on with the Vita, it is impossible for me to tell if this will work for everyone.

As far as I know, there are 5 versions of this game out there. I ported VHBL to 4 of them, and I am sure the fifth one is vulnerable too, but I couldn’t find any place selling or “distributing” it, so I couldn’t port the exploit to it. That being said, it should be “doable” if somebody can get a copy, to port the exploit to that version as well.

I want to thank the people who made this release go as smoothly as possible, especially Teck4 and Mamosuke, HBL devs (in particular m0skit0 and JJS, thanks for lurking on the scene for so long, you guys are the real deal!) the mods at /talk who have helped a lot over the past week, the handful of devs/testers who know how to keep a secret (you know who you are), but also the thousands of /talk users who, for some of them, have been knowing the game’s name for several days now, and haven’t leaked anything. You guys are truly an awesome community, you can of course now go ahead and let your friends know, or brag about how you’ve known about the game for a while and hold the secret. It was so far an awesome experiment, let’s hope the result will be worth it!
