Beginner-friendly Aikido Classes in Berkeley!

spacer Aikido Shusekai is an independent school of Aikido in Berkeley, California, founded by Nick Walker Sensei and dedicated to providing a supportive, inclusive, friendly, community-oriented environment for Aikido training.

We offer co-ed adult/teen classes, children’s classes, and classes for women. We are a diversity-friendly, LGBTQI-friendly Aikido dojo.

We’re located at 2525 Eighth Street (near Dwight Way) in Berkeley, in Studio 12. Beginners are welcome to start training at any time – just show up at any class!

We offer a free month of training for new students.

New: Monday night classes, 8:00-9:30pm. Beginner-friendly basics classes, for those who prefer later-in-the-evening training. Every week, starting January 2nd.

New: Tuesday & Thursday early morning classes, 7:30-9:00am. Beginner-friendly basics classes to start the day off right. Every week, starting Tuesday, January 3rd. Note that it is perfectly acceptable to leave before the end of morning classes in order to get to work/school on time.
