The Tea Party is a quarterly fundraiser that benefits our family, friends and community. This quarterly event provides funds for the free programs and services offered by KICK: Receive & Restore, our health and wellness campaign, Learn & Live, our weekly educational seminars, and Help & Heal, our faith based support group for HIV positive African-American men.

Detroit LGBT Community Organizations launch the video "Healing Detroit: Forwarding The LGBT Movement."
Detroit – Healing Detroit, a collective of LGBT organizations, releases the video "Healing Detroit: Forwarding The LGBT Movement."
"Healing Detroit: Forwarding The LGBT Movement" highlights the efforts of an inspired community to nurture collective works to overcome oppression in the City of Detroit. Distribution of the video is focused on Healing Detroit partner and ally websites. The video will also be introduced through social networking websites such as YouTube and Twitter. Support for the video is provided by Kalamazoo, Michigan-based Arcus Foundation.

Community Foundation's HOPE Fund Launches
Media Partnership to Promote Growing LGBT Leadership of Color
Detroit – The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan announced today a unique media partnership between Issue Media Group and Between The Lines. Aimed at highlighting local LGBT leaders of color, the partnership is supported by The HOPE Fund's Racial Equity Initiative.

KICK's Special Acquaintances Friend-Raiser
Special Acquaintances, our friend-raiser was held on Friday, April 22 at The Center In Detroit. Pictured are: KICK president Tiffany McLean, Congressman Hansen Clarke 13th District Michigan and KICK executive director Curtis Lipscomb.
Kick - The Agency for LGBT African-Americans is Awarded $180,000 to Expand Programming in Detroit
Detroit, MI – KICK - The Agency for LGBT African-Americans has been awarded a $180,000 two-year grant from the Arcus Foundation to hire staff, obtain a new business site and provide operational funding. Thanks to the grant, the board of directors of KICK was able to hire long-time volunteer Curtis Lipscomb as its first paid full-time Executive Director in January 2011. KICK has also established its new office, christened The Center In Detroit, in the Tech Town business district just north of the Wayne State University campus.

After more than seven years of providing education and advocacy to Detroit's LGBT community, the Board of Directors of KICK - The Agency for LGBT African-Americans has elected new executives to lead the organization: Tiffany McLean steps up as President and Jeremiah Jones becomes Vice-President. Also reelected is Antonio Johnson as Treasurer and Acting Secretary. All three members are serving three-year terms beginning January 15, 2011.
