A battling performance from the Millers saw them take away a well earned point as they drew 0-0 against Bradford City.

A blustery afternoon at the John Charles Sports Centre in Leeds made things difficult for both sides to play from the offset.

The Millers had the better of the first half as they kicked with the wind behind them, but couldn't convert any of the chances they created in the tricky conditions.

Luke Beedham was the first to set his sights on the Bradford goal after a neat interchange between Gareth Evans and Alec Denton found him in the area, but his powerful striker sailed wide of Jamie Annerson's goal.

Both sides struggled to retain possession for any length of time and the first corner of the game arrived after 20 minutes.

A dangerous in-swinging cross from Tom Newey was met by Guy Branston who sliced the ball narrowly over his own crossbar.

Midfielder Mitchell Rose was next to take aim at the Bradford goal, but his strike from the edge of the area flew harmlessly over.

Goalkeeper Andy Warrington had to be withdrawn after 25 minutes because of a personal issue and he was replaced by Tony Thompson.

The Millers dominance in the opening half almost paid off when Beedham found himself with space in the box, but his powerful drive span well wide of Annerson's goal.

Half Time: Bradford City 0 - 0 Millers

The Bantams almost took immediate advantage of the second half conditions and 30 seconds into the half a good ball by Dominic Rowe left Darren Stephenson through on goal, but a fantastic save from the onrushing Thompson denied him the opener.

Much like the first half it was the team backed by the wind that had the better spells of play. Bradford looked more threatening but the Millers made a commendable effort to get the ball on the floor.

Andy Haworth stood over a free-kick on the edge of the Millers area with intent, but his curling effort went just over Thompson's goal.

Bradford could well have taken the lead on 58 minutes had it not been for a fine save from Thompson.

A good break down the left hand side from Stephenson saw him cut in and fire a powerful shot on goal, which Thompson acrobatically turned onto the crossbar and over for a corner.

Five minutes later the replacement stopper was called into action again, this time a looping ball over the top caught out the Millers' back line but the onrushing Thompson was on hand to thwart James Gray.

The Millers' best chance of the second half came after a smart link up between John Travis and Evans down the left hand side saw Denton pick the ball up on the edge of the area, but he couldn't turn quick enough to fire his shot past a sea of Bradford defenders.

The best chance of the game fell to the hosts when Gray raced clear before latching onto a ball over the top, but the presence of Thompson was just enough to ensure the striker skewed his effort just wide of the post.
