Steve McQueen

“You think you are pretty tough, right?”

“Yes, I do”

Steve McQueen without a doubt is one of the coolest guys in film history. Think of any successful action-packed movie of the 60’s and 70’s and you will find his name on top of it.

This video literally takes a closer look on the charismatic figure of McQueen and provides us with some Sunday afternoon film-history lesson.

SPRING/BREAK Art Show

Last day to check out the Spring break art show where the work of our photographer Grace Vilamil is included. Go check it out the new curator-driven art fair during the Armory Arts Week. The fair will inhabit Old School, a four-story schoolhouse located in NoLIta from March 6th – March 11th, 2012.

Featuring the projects of 23 curators, the show will abandon the traditional focus on galleries – offering a “break” from the typical art fair model – and showcase a range of New York City’s curatorial voices, all surrounding a single exhibition theme - Apocalist: A Brief History of The End.

Borrowing the Past - A Hammock Remix

“There are times when the need to create a thing begins to interrupt your life. And if you don’t give in to it, everything else starts to suffer.”

The music of Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson might be best described as melodic poems. The floating pictures of director Eliot Rausch highlight the music of composer Rhian Sheehan and create a surreal ensemble.

The Violin Maker - Made in Brookyln

Sam Zygmuntowicz is a passionate violin maker in Brooklyn who clearly loves his work. This nice video piece from Dustin Cohen gives us not only an understanding about the traditional art of violin making but also an insight of how important it is to create an violin that really belongs to the musician.

FvF Interview with designer Christiane Büssgen

Silver cutlery and brass lamps- at first glance, it doesn’t sound like the most ideal business in the world of progressive design. But the product designer Christiane Büssgen has always seen it rather differently- and rightly so.

We stopped by her apartment to find out about her very own tasteful interior. Thanks to Lukas Gansterer and Alexandra von Quadt, our great contributors from Vienna.

Check out the complete interview here: www.freundevonfreunden.com/interviews/christiane-bussgen/
