Eastern Shore Real Estate

Talbot County is home to more waterfront than any other county in the United States, more than 600 miles of it. Some of the spectacular manor houses date as far back as the 1600s and in most cases can only be seen by boat or air. The area recently picked up the nick name "Hamtons of the Chesapeake." Tour of our cities

Visitors TV Network was started in 1996 by Will and Dorothy Howard with the idea of sharing attractions of their community to hotel guests. They had seen videos of restaurants in various cities where they traveled with their children in the early 90s and thought they could do a better job mixing informative videos about the history and attractions of the community with low profile ads showing restaurant and shopping opportunities. Click here to see a brief introduction to the hosts of each city.

The peaceful, picturesque area of Talbot County, Md., is the perfect oasis from the chaos of everyday life. Quaint bed and breakfasts, talented local musicians, delicious seafood and a long, fascinating historical background make the county a popular getaway for people of all ages and interests. Located directly on the Chesapeake Bay, Talbot County has always been famous for its crabbing, oyster harvesting and extensive wildlife but has been quickly gaining a creditable reputation for its shopping, dining and art, as well.
Pleasant accommodations are plentiful. Indulge in an exquisite waterfront view at St. Michael’s Inn at Perry Cabin, a colonial manor house resort and spa, or relax at Easton’s Historic Tidewater Inn, complete with salon, spa and a restaurant with the most extensive wine list around. If you’re looking for something a bit more secluded, reserve the Miles River Guest House, a waterfront, two-bedroom home rented to only one party at a time and offering lovely sunsets, canoes and poolside and dockside massages.
When it comes to food, Talbot County is a culinary force to be reckoned with.  It has everything from Thai to Italian and beyond.  Easton’s Scossa Restaurant features a varied and exciting menu of Northern Italian cuisine, including fresh pasta and seafood, by world-renowned owner Chef Giancarlo Tondin, who was born in Trento, Italy and worked in one of the world’s top ten restaurants in Venice. For a more casual setting, order a pitcher of beer and a bushel of mouth-watering, steamed Maryland blue crabs on the deck at The Crab Claw in St. Michaels.
While you’re there, hop on the Herman M. Krentz skipjack. Docked right outside The Crab Claw, this authentic working skipjack allows visitors to help pull up the sails and dredge oysters while absorbing a beautiful view of Chesapeake Bay’s abundant wildlife. Meet local decoy carvers, watermen, crab pickers, boat builders and oyster shuckers at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and learn about the Bay’s history at the museum’s nine interpretive and interactive exhibits. And if you really can’t get enough of the wildlife and water, don’t miss the county’s annual Waterfowl Festival in November for wine tasting, decoy auctions, World Championship Calling Contests, incredible seafood, wildlife artists, craftsmen, vendors and music.
For the art lover, the area offers an abundance of museums, including the Academy of the Arts, which presents exhibitions from the most talented in the region. Grab a coffee or stay for an enjoyable night of wine and music at Coffee East, an intimate venue that has rapidly become the center of the Talbot County music scene, featuring gifted musicians from all over the country multiple nights a week. Unique clothing shops, jewelers, record stores and antiques litter the streets of downtown Oxford, Easton and St. Michaels, making this the perfect area for even the most particular shopper. Whether you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind shopping experience, exceptional food, breathtaking nature or just a getaway from your daily routine, Talbot County has something for everyone.
