Between 1982 and 1997, Pennsylvania lost over 400,000 acres of farmland to sprawl. In North Strabane Township, 20 miles south of Pittsburgh, development is pushing the Martin family off their three generation dairy farm. In our continuing series, The Many Faces of Sprawl, The Allegheny Front's Jason Witmer reports it's been an agonizing decision to sell off their land to developers. The series is funded by the Laurel Foundation and sponsored in part by Sustainable Pittsburgh.
