3D Tech Demo Source Released
I’ve finally published the project I wrote for my VTM conference talk in Boston last November (2011). This project is iOS 5 specific and uses GLKit for all the rendering and math. It also implements a version of our Particle engine enhanced to work in 3D which is really cool. It uses bill boarded images for the particles so you can fade them, rotate them etc and it all looks great in 3D. We haven’t got 3D supported yet in Particle Designer but it will be in V2.0 :o) so for now you have to manually edit the XML config file.

Readers Games
I’ve been delinquent recently in updating the blog with readers games. I’ve recently had emails about games that have been created by blog readers and our tool users and I wanted to post about them so everyone can see the amazing work being done by indie developers.

Ayopa Games
My friends over at the newly launched Ayopa Games have published their first two games, Chicken Rescue and W.E.L.D.E.R.
Johnny and Elliott who run Ayopa Games have years of industry experience each let alone between them. I spent some time with them when I was last in San Francisco and the plans they have plus they games they are working on publishing look fantastic, so I would certainly recommend keeping an eye out for Ayopa Published games.
If your a developer looking for a publisher then I would highly recommend speaking with Ayopa. Given how well the launch has gone for their first two games, their experience and their contacts, I think they will become a very well know publisher very quickly which is only good for us devs :o)

VTM Sneak Peak 2
I’ve put up another video showing the latest version of the game prototype I’ll be using as VTM on 12/13 November in Boston. This shows the 3D particle emitter I’ve implemented which I’m using for sparks on the hull of the ships as they are hit by gun fire, the ship explosions and the plasma rounds being fired by the ships at the player.

VTM Sneak Peak
Just wanted to post a small video that shows the game I’m going to be talking about at VTM in November. The video is a little shaky as I was trying to video while swinging the iPad around (it uses the gyro for input).
Once the conference is out of the way the new tutorials will be running through how this was created and all the source code.
I hope you enjoy the video and it’s gives you some idea of what is to come :)

New ParticleEmitter class
It’s been a while since there have been any updates to the 71Squared ParticleEmitter class, but today I can announce that a new version is available that makes use of quads when rendering particles. This means that ParticleEmitter now supports rotation of particles.
