2011

Wow, what an amazing time we had at this year's Watermelon Park Fest.  We didn't realize how many fans we have! And what a thrill getting to meet Ralph Stanley, and sitting in with the Steep Canyon Rangers, and Woody Pines, and jammin with Pokey down on the river were just a few of the high points. The Red Stick Ramblers were amazing, Bruce Molsky is always excellent, and the Woodshedders burned the house down. We can't wait till next time!

Check out the video of Dave and Danny's jam with The Steep Canyon Rangers at the 2011 Watermelon Park Fest!

Keep a lookout for a delightful compilation entitled Beginner's Guide to Hoedown coming to stores in November. Furnace Mountain shares a track alongside other artists Ralph Stanley, Doc Watson, Reyna Gellert, Hazel Dickens, Alice Gerrard, Flatt and Scrugs, The Dillards, Bill Monroe, Tony Rice, Bella Fleck, and many more on this three CD set.

In February we returned from the  Celtic Connections 2011 festival in Glasgow, Scotland, where we had a wonderful time seeing old friends and family, and playing tons of great music. We played to a capacity crowd at Glasgow's fabulous Old Fruitmarket concert hall with our good buddies The Wilders. Paul Kerr, who was at the show and writing for this month's Maverick Magazine, said that Furnace Mountain was "Superb — a breath of fresh mountain air."

We also landed a slot on BBC Two Scotland's Festival Highlights show. Check out the excellent BBC video of us at the Old Fruitmarket. Later, when we joined Roseanne Cash and Laura Cantrell for a live BBC Radio 3 broadcast from the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Ms. Kennedy told her listeners we were, in her opinion, "one of the hottest acts" on the circuit.
