A bit more about me

What do you do with a degree in Physics? My answer was “manage a Biology Research lab at a Natural History Museum and go swing dancing a lot”. Eventually, this ceased to be a satisfactory answer. After a Masters Degree in Industrial Design at the Pratt Institute in New York, I quickly realized that I was being asked to solve Interaction Design problems at my Industrial Design job…and so I went about becoming an Interaction designer to be able to solve those problems.

I’ve had the good fortune to work on mobile, web and embedded interfaces for clients as diverse as Volvo, GE, Motorola, Panasonic, Best Buy, Hearst, and Abbott Pharmaceuticals on interfaces of nearly every shape and size – from washing machines to TVs.

I’m passionate about iterative engagements with users and stakeholders. I find it makes things better.

I’m currently a senior interaction designer at Fjord.

You can find me on twitter @dastillman or on Linked In. If you’re into that sort of thing.

Other things I do that are interesting: I’m 1/4 of GothamSmith. I’ve been known to give workshops about Design thinking, Science , Origami and Kefir at the Brooklyn Brainery, among other places. If you require emails, try my name, daniel.stillman, at gmail.com.
