Brian Newman has earned his stripes as a man about town. Having honed his craft at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, this Cleveland native has routinely performed standards from the American songbook as a bandleader with some of the most talented performers at New York City institutions such as Feinstein’s, Duane Park, Rose Bar at Gramercy Park Hotel & The Oak Room and special appearances nationwide.
One of the most reputable and dynamic trumpeters in the business, Brian has shared the stage with legends ranging from Tony Bennett to Mark Murphy. Perhaps best known for being Lady Gaga’s go-to jazz player, Brian has performed with her both in the studio and for ABC’s A Very Gaga Thanksgiving, NBC’s Today Show, BBC Radio 1′s Big Weekend and MTV’s Video Music Awards. Brian’s throwback style also has Hollywood calling with film and TV performances including HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and the feature film, Friends with Kids.
Having been named as the official trumpet player of The Greg James Show on the BBC and his playing dubbed “brilliant” by Stephen Holden of the New York Times, Brian’s eclectic embodiment of new world punk and old world tastefulness allows him to gracefully toe the line between nouveau chic and classic elegance to add his tender yet tenacious touch to every single note.
Brian’s latest album, Live From New York City, is slated for a Spring 2012 release.
