ReFuel Pgh is a waste cooking oil collection program that aims to reduce air and water pollution and keep fuel investments in our region by locally recycling used oil into a cleaner-burning alternative fuel.
 
Waste cooking oil is a problem for our municipalities and our rivers. It clogs our pipes, causing ruptures and constricting our sewer system’s capacity during a storm event. Petroleum-diesel used in Pittsburgh is responsible for carcinogenic air pollution, climate change emissions and millions of dollars at leave our region and the country.
 
In partnership with Fossil Free Fuel, GTECH is transforming this economic and environmental liability into a diesel replacement that will support a youth entrepreneurship-training program.
 
You can get involved by donating your used cooking oil to ReFuel Pgh. We are currently collecting non-hydrogenated vegetable oils which are free of contaminants like water, large pieces of food, detergents and animal fats.

Construction Junction: Look for the wooden bin and ReFuel Pgh sign to the left of the City of Pittsburgh Recycling Drop-off in the Construction Junction parking lot opposite the main building (see map below). The Construction Junction lot is open 8am- 5pm , Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm on Saturday, and 11am-4pm on Sunday.

Whole Foods Market: Look for the big yellow ReFuel Pgh collection bin outside the front of the store. Please drop off your oil only during Whole Foods Market's store hours, which can be found HERE. The market is located at 5880 Centre Ave (see map below)
