I harden my shorter pieces to a slightly higher degree than
my swords (around 57 to 60 RC). They are tempered to a durable
flexibility while retaining good edge holding capability.
My gripps are made out of a solid piece of wood with a precisely
drilled and burned hole through their centre to allow for
a snug fit. The guard and pommel are generally made of bronze
, steel or silver. The hilt and gripp assembly is precision
fit with a threaded or peened tang and is further reinforced
with epoxy.
