About

Mission Statement

The Bike Oven endeavors to serve the community and improve the quality of urban life by promoting and facilitating, through culture change, the use of bicycling as an alternative to the non-sustainable and climate damaging fossil-fuel powered motor vehicle transportation system.

Our Story and Some Basic Facts

The Bike Oven is a volunteer-run bicycle repair collective that started in a single car garage on Avenue 42 in Highland Park.

The Bike Oven moved, in August of 2007, to a new, better, and larger space. We are now at 3706 North Figueroa St. in Highland Park. Just 1/3 mile from the Heritage Square Gold Line Station, easy walking or riding distance to our front door. Through generous donations, we have expanded our facilities and parts supplies.

What We Do

The Bike Oven provides all the tools and supplies you will need to do most minor or major repair jobs. Volunteer mechanics are available to assist you if you need guidence or instruction. We have a large supply of used parts available for a small donation for replacing damaged parts, building up your bike, or doing that one speed conversion you’ve been planning. We are not a retail bicycle shop and do not make repairs or sell new parts and bicycles. But if you want to learn to fix your own bike or build a project up from scratch, we will assist you no matter how much help you need. Bring in your own bike, a project in the works, or just your vision of what you want to ride and we’ll help you get on the road.

If you need parts for your project or want to see some of the world’s most practicle and beautiful bicycles, visit our neighbor Flying Pigeon LA.

A donation of $5.00 per hour is requested (plus any parts, cash only).
