MUCUGL does Mobility…

Despite rain, wind and fire (well not actually a real fire, just a false alarm, but irritating nonetheless!) our third meet-up was a resounding success. We delivered some great technical content and the group expressed their views around some of the more strategic considerations worth taking into account as a part of an enterprise mobility strategy – one such example was a debate around Call-via-work (3G and Wi-Fi vs. PSTN).

Steve Hopkins from AudioCodes also joined us and presented on their latest and greatest mobile and voice recording solutions for Lync Server 2010.

Thanks to all those that joined us and we hope to see you all at our next event on April 19th at Eight Club. Presentations from Justin, Tom, Steve and I are now available via the MUCUGL SlideShare account (also embedded below)

The next MUCUG London event isn’t until January 19th, so Justin, Tom and I decided it would be a pity not to meet for up for some pre-Xmas “Lync Drinks” - I know it’s bad, but the SharePoint folks have SharePint?!?

So if you’re in London/South East and work in UC (not just Microsoft – we get industry analysts and people from all vendors along), come down to Doggett’s near Blackfriars Bridge on the Southbank on the 8th December from 6:30pm for a few ales.

Also check out some great Geek-Mas trees here

Hope to see you there!

Last Thursday night Justin, Tom and I sucessfully delivered the second MUCUGL event, with the kind support of Graham Walsh, Mike Adams and Jeff Schertz at Polycom.

We started off with a fantastic demonstration on Polycom’s conferencing and telepresence solutions – all of which work natively with Lync. This was followed up by an engaging presentation from Jeff on the “How it works” aspects, then last but not least Justin and Tom updated the group on recent updates to Lync on Mac (Lync for Mac), Skype, Windows Mobile and CEBP.

We also managed to get some great feedback from attendees! (see below)

As always we’d like to personally thank those that made it along and we hope to see you at future events (January 19th 2012 agenda to be announced soon!)

In this, our second MUCUG gathering, the kind folks at Polycom have offered to host the event at their London Executive Briefing Centre, or EBC – naturally we agreed!

“The Polycom® Executive Briefing Centers and Solutions Centers offer exciting experiences that are unlike any others in the world of corporate briefings. At a Polycom center, you can explore the full range of our solutions hands-on, and easily envision how they can work specifically in your business.”

In our first session Mike Adams (Polycom Customer Experience Manager) will be running a series of Polycom/Lync integration demos – it’ll be a 6pm sharp kick-off, so if you are late you might miss out!

Then what better way of demonstrating Polycom’s telepresence but by Mike Stacy and Jeff Schertz (Polycom Solutions Architects and Lync MVPs) joining us to present on Audio/Video Conferencing and Interop in Lync Server.

Finally Tom, Justin and Adam will provide an industry update and focused Lync guidance/sharing.

A full agenda can be found below, we’re looking forward to seeing you there!
