Our Mission
The mission of the Dart Society is to connect and support journalists worldwide who advance the compassionate and ethical coverage of trauma, conflict and social injustice.
We will accomplish our mission by:
- Helping journalists understand trauma, what it does to them, and the people they cover for the purpose of creating better journalists and journalism.
- Increasing the level of global participation and networks to provide support, education and camaraderie.
- Increasing awareness and understanding by media decision-makers of the impact of trauma on journalists and the need to support them.
- Advocating and providing venues for compassionate coverage of traumatic incidents and the people who are affected by them.
- Increasing awareness of the Dart Society’s value to its members and to society as a whole.
