Cremation Services
Cremation is becoming a more common choice in the process of remembering your loved one. With cremation, you have a variety of options from the memorial service to urns to final resting place.
Just like traditional services, with cremation you have several service options:
- Cremation following a traditional service -– may include a viewing
- Cremation following a viewing only
- Cremation following or preceding a memorial service or reception
- Cremation preceding or following a family reception
- Immediate cremation with no service or viewing
There are thousands of urns, from simple eco-friendly urns to those licensed by Major League Baseball?.?Since New Mexico State law forbids scattering of cremated remains in State Parks or on public lands without a permit, we provide several options at Sunset Memorial Park.
If you choose to place your loved one’s remains in an urn garden, mausoleum or have them buried, Sunset Memorial Park provides all of these options in a beautiful setting. Cremated remains can be interred next to your loved one who was traditionally buried, scattered in our beautiful rose garden, or placed in a niche.?Several niche areas are found in the park – including outdoor and indoor locations at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum or in our Centennial Urn Garden.

Green Services
At French, we are one of only two funeral providers in New Mexico that are certified by the Green Burial Council, a nonprofit organization that encourages the use of burial as a means of facilitating the restoration, acquisition and stewardship of natural areas throughout the United States. For green arrangements, formaldehyde-based embalming is prohibited, as is the use of metal or concrete grave-liners, burial-vaults or other permanent burial containers.?We offer caskets, urns and other containers that are created from natural and biodegradable materials. At Sunset Memorial Park, we provide a tranquil rose garden for the scattering of cremated remains, which not only offers an eco-friendly alternative but a convenient location in the heart of the city.
