Gretchen Lea Design Philosophy

spacer Gretchen Lea Interior Design has been serving the Berks, Montgomery, Chester & Philadelphia areas for over 30 years. Whether you are a do-it-yourselfer seeking a consultation for ideas or a homeowner who wants Gretchen to design and/or manage a project from start to finish, Gretchen Lea is the designer to call. Solving interior design dilemmas, kitchen design, creating interesting, yet functional window treatments and lighting solutions are just a few of the challenges that she enjoys. Her work has been featured in County Home & Window Fashions, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Philadelphia Horticulture Societies publications, and numerous Vassar Show Houses.

Gretchen Lea Interior Design was awarded a 2008 BE Craftsmanship Award for Residential Specialty Project Interior/Exterior Design. The project was to design, build, and furnish a solar guest house that blended in with the rural atmosphere and surrounding buildings.

Gretchen has taught continuing education classes in Interior Design for both the Boyertown and Pottstown area school districts and Reading Area Community College. She owned a shop in Pottstown for over 10 years and has worked as the Executive Director for Cornerstone of the Arts and later the director of the Tri-County Area Chamber's Arts Council.

Gretchen discovered while teaching Interior Design classes that the steps one needs to take to put together a well designed, functioning room are the same as the ones one must take to put together a good piece of art.  Gretchen prides herself as being able to make a design flaw in a client's home into an asset.
