About Us

The Cleaner Plate Club was originally a blog published by mother-writer-dog-walker-coffee-drinker- Ali Benjamin. She launched the blog in early 2007, as a way of motivating herself to step off the industrial food grid. Her original statement read:

Hormones in milk. Pesticides on produce. Feces on meat. Say what? I’m not a foodie, I’m rarely a cook, and I don’t have the time for slow food. Truth is, all I’m looking for is a decent meal – preferably one that my kids will eat, as well.

Through this blog, Ali met Beth Bader,  fellow mom, former shark-wrangler, and a simply outstanding cook.  They met over a recipe for kale chips, and formed a fast friendship. They shared recipes, encouragement, and frustration…and eventually wrote a book together.

That book, also called The Cleaner Plate Club, was published somewhere around the time that 2010 gave way to 2011. Around then, the blog that had once been Ali’s alone became a place where both writers could explore issues of raising healthy kids in a fast food world.

You’ll still find some of Ali’s old writing here, in the archives. Going forward, for non-food writing, you can find Ali at alibenjamin.com and Beth over at the (ex)Expatriate’s Kitchen.

    Hi,
I was wondering if you had any advertising or guest post opportunities available on your site? I would love the opportunity to work with you and I look forward to hearing back from you.
    Thanks,

Hi Emily, we don’t advertise anything on CPC other than our book, which is based on content from our blogs. Thank you for your interest!

Hi, saw your old blog post about Tilapia and wanted to make sure you have seen this article in the NY Times about the fish farms in China. No fish from China for me anymore, LOL. Make your own decision, of course. spacer
