Wales Mental Health Network

The Wales Mental Health Network (WMHN) has been established by the National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH) to facilitate high quality research in developmental and psychiatric disorders across the lifespan.

We are working to better understand why some people experience problems with their mental health by studying biological (including genetic) and psychological and lifestyle factors.  We hope that our study will improve understanding of these conditions and help find better treatments in the future.

Our main areas of work are neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autistic Spectrum Disorders; mood and psychotic disorders such as Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); and neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease.

We are hoping for several thousand volunteers across Wales to participate in the WMHN and we are extremely keen to hear from anyone who would like to help us by taking part.

Participation in the WMHN involves:

  • a brief meeting with one of our researchers (approximately 20-30mins)
  • providing a small blood sample
  • filling in some questionnaires

If you would be interested in participating in the WMHN or would like further information please contact us using the form below.
