KeepAmericaFishing launches Cast Away in Costa Rica to highlight marine conservation and sustainable saltwater fishing
Alexandria, VA – March 1, 2012 –To celebrate its commitment to marine conservation, KeepAmericaFishing™ is offering anglers a chance to fish in what is arguably one of the best sportfishing spots in the world – Península de Osa, Costa Rica.
Now through April 1, 2012, anglers can enter Cast Away in Costa Rica at www.KeepAmericaFishing.org/castaway for a chance to win a trip for two to Crocodile Bay Resort, complete with airfare and five full days of lodging, meals and fishing. Winners will also receive over $4,000 in fishing gear and accessories from Abu Garcia®, Gulp!®, PENN® and Sebile®. Two additional winners will each receive $1,000 in fishing gear.
“Conserving the magnificent billfish, promoting sustainable fisheries, improving marine fisheries management and maintaining angler access are just a few of the efforts we undertake to ensure sustainable saltwater fishing,” said Gordon Robertson, vice president of the American Sportfishing Association, the parent organization of KeepAmericaFishing.“Our partnership with Crocodile Bay Resort and great brands like Abu Garcia, Gulp!, PENN and Sebile, allows us to highlight these efforts and our joint commitment to marine conservation.”
One such area of joint concern is the depletion of marlin, sailfish and spearfish – collectively known as billfish – in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans largely as a result of foreign commercial overfishing.
“Crocodile Bay Resort offers world-class catch and release sportfishing in the Golfo Dulce. By stopping the exportation of sailfish and removing all forms of unsustainable fishing, Golfo Dulce has made a great recovery,” said Todd Staley, director of Fishing at Crocodile Bay Resort. “Our commitment to teaching anglers more sustainable ways to fish is certainly making a strong impact on marine conservation worldwide.”
