The solidarity economy meets our needs (everything from financial services to food) by utilizing values of justice, sustainability, cooperation, and democracy. Together we can build an economy worth occupying.

The SolidarityNYC Project is collectively directed by a committed group of activists, artists, and community members. We are fiscally sponsored by the Sustainable Markets Foundation and maintain close ties to GEO (Grassroots Economic Organizing) Collective, the New Economy Network, and the U.S. Solidarity Economy Network.

Presently, a steering group takes care of SolidarityNYC operations and convenes monthly meetings for our larger network of interested people and organizations. The steering group includes:

Cheyenna Weber, organizing & community building
Michael Johnson, cooperative leadership education
Caroline Woolard
, creative & cooperative communities
Amelia Bryne,
research & media-making
Annie McShiras, research and cooperative communities
