I'm a geek. I'm also a practising Buddhist. That is why, of everyone on the planet, I would most like to lunch with the founder of Buddhist Geeks, Vincent Horn, and the cofounder of the Buddhist Geeks conference, Rohan Gunatillake. What's a Buddhist geek? It's someone with an interest in technology and Buddhist wisdom who wants to figure out how to use technology to reinvent a thousands-year-old spiritual practice to be more accessible, more relevant and easier to integrate into our lives. They're asking big questions, such as "How can social media support meditation practice?" "How can design thinking change the way ancient wisdom is taught and passed on?" "Can videogames lead to enlightenment?" I'm particularly passionate about that last question!

Vincent Horn is representative of a new kind of American Buddhist: young, U.S.-born converts who have intertwined their religious practice with a certain 21st century techie sensibility.

Vincent and Emily are a dynamic team. As community dharma leaders they bring years of committed meditation practice rooted in the Thai Forest tradition. Both Vincent and Emily have experience helping people find their path of awakening, and a passion for the embodiment of Buddhist wisdom. We have been guiding their practice closely, including on several long retreats. We feel confident that their depth of practice and sincerity will be a great asset as they share the dharma with others.

I see, in Vincent Horn, the new face of dharma in the West. Intelligent, thoughtful, and with a compassion deeply rooted in contemplative Buddhist practice, Vincent has my unqualified endorsement.

Vincent Horn is a strong, accomplished meditation practitioner with extensive retreat experience with great teachers over many years. As a founder of Buddhist Geeks, a key early supporter of the founding of the Dharma Overground, a blogger at Numinous Nonsense (now Vincenthorn.com), and many other projects, he has been a major force for open, integrative, clear, and practical dharma. He is a thoughtful listener, a very bright and well-read scholar, a great communicator and a good friend. His important and innovative work has reached countless thousands of practitioners around the world and I am sure he will bring the same great qualities to his teaching wherever else he goes. Highly recommended.
