Clann Eireann Cup – Saturday 17th March
On St Patrick’s Day, Clann Eireann will be hosting the Clann Eireann Cup on the Derrymacash circuit. This event is open to A3 and A4 riders only and places are limited to sixty riders. The event is open for pre-entry and you can enter online by going to www.clanncc.net to register online.
With no A1′s or 2′s in the event it is an opportunity for A3 and A4 riders to amass points.

Red Hand Trophy Promoted by Ballymena Northstone Chain Reaction Cycles – Saturday 14th April 2012
The Red Hand Trophy is now open for pre-entry. The Red Hand Trophy is one of the oldest and most scenic road races on the calendar. It receives full PSNI motorbike outrider support and is known as a tough race.
It is an ideal training race for those contemplating participating in the May Bank Holiday, Tour of Ulster or the An Post Rás later in May.
The Red Hand Trophy is also the second round of the Slane Cycles Ulster Classic League sponsored by Slane Cycles, Cycling Ulster and the NICF.… Read more
Cyclists Gear up for Easter P&O Classic.
The countdown is on, with just under a month to go to Cycling`s showcase event, the P&O Ferries Tour of the North takes to the roads at Easter
Covering 4 stages, and just under 220 miles of racing over the Easter weekend, Friday 6th April will see 100 international riders assemble for the now traditional opening Time Trial stage in the grounds of Stormont Estate in Belfast .
Getting the event underway with a Climb, albeit a short 1.1km ascent of the Prince of Wales drive in Stormont, Stage 2 also sees 3 categorised climbs in the AA sponsored King of the Hills competition, with Saturday’s Rathfriland-based stage taking in the legendary Spelga Dam as well as the Santa’s cottage climb at Rostrevor before the sting in the tail finish back in the County Down town.… Read more
McCann Cup 2012 – Winners All Around
The McCann Cup Road Race celebrated its tenth anniversary today at the Halfway House in Seskinore and it couldn’t have been better. The weather stayed dry, there were good fields for all three afternoon races not to talk of the morning races featuring the best of the women and master’s riders.
Omagh Wheelers know how to welcome riders and their friends and this was obvious from the great turn-out of family members and spectators. It reminded me a bit of when I was younger and a Sunday afternoon was not spent in front of a television set but instead was a family day out, often to watch a sporting event.… Read more
Sherlock Takes Opening Round of Slane Cycles Classic League
There was a full complement of riders lined up for today’s Wallace Caldwell Memorial Race promoted by Ballymena RC. The tough seventy mile race is a real classic event and would be a testing affair so early in the season. It was also the opening round of the 2012 Slane Cycles Ulster Classic League, sponsored by Slane Cycles, Cycling Ulster and the NICF.
Tough climbs at Cam Forest, Springwell and the ‘sting in the tail’ at Tully ensured that this was no easy race. However with full PSNI motorbike outrider support the event moved smoothly through the towns and villages enoute.… Read more
Road Races 10th/11th March 2012
Saturday 10th March – Wallace Caldwell RR
On Saturday 10th March Ballymena RC will promote the Wallace Caldwell Road Race which starts from the Club rooms in Railway Street, Ballymena. This was a pre-entry event and is now almost full to capacity. Anyone wanting a late entry should contact Hugh McCullough on 02825820274 or vial email to hugh-ballymenaroadclub@hotmail.co.uk in case there has been any cancellations.
The event travels to Limavady taking in some tough but scenic climbs and is a good preparation for anyone intending to do the Easter tours.… Read more
Wilson and Caldwell Triumph on Carriageway
Newry Wheelers had their orders in early for someone to turn on the sunshine for their promotion of the John Haldane memorial road race. Despite the cold it was pleasant out of the wind on the Newry to Warrenpoint dual carriageway as full fields lined up for the two races on offer.
First off was the A race in which the A1’s – A3’s were set off in separate groups with a short handicap between each. The A3 group was a large one and early on a group of about fifteen riders decided to make a break.… Read more
Hawkins and McAuley Dominate Carryduff
With two races on offer, both filled to capacity, rolly roads and aggressive riding, all was set for exciting racing at Carryduff today when Castlereagh CC promoted their annual John Moore Memorial road race. Although the sun shone making racing conditions good, the bitter winds ensured that only those racing felt any warmth.
In the A race for the A1’s. 2’s and 3’s there was a two and a half minute handicap separating each of the three groups on the road. The A3 bunch was large with a lot of determined riders out to make their mark early on.… Read more
John Moore Memorial – Update
The A race field for the John Moore Memorial RR which takes place this Saturday is now complete, with only a few places left in the B (A4) race. Big names riding are Peter Hawkins (IGMarkets/Sigma Sport) and defending champion Adam Armstrong (Eurocycles).
Riders are asked to use the car park of the Carryduff Baptist Church as there will be a lot of football matches on in the Lough Moss Centre on Saturday. The car park is 100m from the entrance to Lough Moss Centre on the road towards Carryduff.… Read more

Errigal CC Relibility Trial
This Sunday, 4th March, Errigal Cycling Club will host their first reliability trial. The event will commence at Letterkenny Community Centre, Pearse Rd., Letterkenny with sign on from 9.15am, Entry €10, Anyone hoping to attend must have in their possession their 2012 Cycling Ireland License – (No license – No start) Groups will be rolling out at 10am sharp, Groups to suit all capabilities from A1/A2/A3/A4 right down to leisure cyclists.
The event itself will have two distances 133km and 70km.… Read more
