Onyx 3.1 now available! Click here for more. Or, click here to download! Onyx is a game of sexual exploration designed for two to six consenting adults. It runs on Macintosh, Windows, and Linux systems. Players perform all kinds of intimate actions, from mild to kinky. As the game progresses, so does the action! Play with people you are intimate with--or want to be!
If a player lands on a property owned by another player, the first player may either pay rent to the owner, or choose to work off the debt. Players who wish to work off the debt will receive an "action card," which describes an action that must be performed for the benefit of the property's owner. There are also squares which aren't properties. These special squares cause different things to happen when players land on them. There is a torture chamber square, for example, which causes a player unlucky enough to land on it to draw a "torture card." Torture cards describe actions to be performed to tease and torture the victim... Other special squares include Center Stage, where the lucky player is put on display; a Random Encounter square; and Fate squares, where the luck of the draw dictates a player's fate. Onyx has several different "spice" settings, which determine how risque the action gets, and what sorts of actions are allowed. You can also choose "roles," which tell the game what kinds of actions you prefer to be involved in. If you don't like being tied up, just tell Onyx that you will not accept the "bondage" role. If you fancy being blindfolded during sex, tell Onyx you accept the "blindfolded" role. It lets you create your own game board graphic in your image-editing program, which lets you change how the game board looks. Registered users of Onyx also receive a Card Editor program, which lets you modify the action cards, and create your own. What do I need to play it? You need a Macintosh running OS 9 or later (for Onyx 3.0), or OS X 10.2 or later (for Onyx 3.1); A Linux on i86 system running GTK 2.0+; or a Windows computer running Windows 2000 or higher. How do I get it? Onyx is available for free download. The free version is limited; it can only be played on the mildest two "spice level" settings, and it cannot use any card deck files besides the ones it comes with. Onyx can be registered by paying the $35 shareware fee; registration gives you a serial number to unlock the full version, and it also gives you the Card Editor program, which you can use to create your own card decks. How do I register my copy of Onyx? Registering Onyx is easy. The registration fee is $35. You can register securely by credit card at the Online Store.
