Adore Le Pug

The journey of a pug named Porky and I wondered if she also become engrossed in the March of the Penguins movie like Cappy did?

Commuting with Cappy

spacer During most of August, I worked on Bettie, a Bike Hugger project to build a sport-utility bike. A sport-utiity bike is built to carry stuff, including Cap'n and replace a car for errands and commuting to work. For a trip to the vet, groomer, a longer walk, or just to ride around, I load Cap'n up and we're off.  It's fun, doesn't require a car, and the best part is no parking worries! To learn more about Bettie and commuting with Cap'n, check Bike Hugger's Bettie tags and the photo galleries.

Pet Owners Across the Pond

Pet owners across the pond are just as indulgent as us urbanites. See Pets and the City UK, taking notice of their future designs, especially the Modernist coach. That'd fit right into a new South Lake Union condo. Also noting that even Lump didn't have it that modern.

Lump the Art Dog

The NY Times reports on Picasso's dog called Lump. Lump can be seen making a cameo 15 times in Picasso's Las Meninas series of paintings and thanks to American photographer David Douglas Duncan, we have a new "book of photographs taken in 1957 that show Lump as the top dog" of Art.

Pet Rent

The Mercury-News reports on "pet rent," a growing trend in the Bay Area and other parts of the country. I haven't heard of pet-specific rent in Seattle, but I wouldn't doubt it. The article states that owners are paying $35.00 a month and up. Are any of you paying pet rent now?

Pug shots and more

PugTherapy: Finding Happiness, One Pug at a Time, is a new book featuring Elvis, Bert, Buddah and Busta who are all photographed in Manhattan. Another book, I just noticed on Amazon.com is Urban Dog by Cis Frankel, Metrodog: The Essential Guide to Raising Your Dog in the City, and City Dog: New York City.

How Pets Party

spacer Our doggy day care sent us this photo of the pets partying with doggie ice cream. My caption is, "lining up and knocking 'em back." (and the one there on the left that couldn't wait.)

iPug shirts

iPug shirts are now available at retail for pug lovers and wholesale for fundraisers from Monkey in a Dryer. The iPug has been around for a while, a meme even, I posted about it on Pug Blog in May 05. Here's a backgrounder on the shirt and the artist from Capitalist Chicks. On the topic of shirts, see the fancy T for Bike Hugger, a blog for cycling enthusiasts and our latest blog project.

Ignore the barking pug

It's guaranteed if I'm on a telecon that at some point Captain will bark. The more important the meeting, the more likely it is that she'll bark and a standard line I have is, "please ignore the barking Pug." She usually has good reason like the sound of the UPS truck, the kids next door getting home from school, or a message beamed to her from Planet pug. It's much worse if I walk around with a headset and I think she thinks that the crazy human who feeds her is talking to himself and that means it's time to play. She'll tug on my pants until I stop talking or sit back down at my desk. Occasionally and unknown to the teleconference attendees, I'll have to mute the phone and put her outside if someone rings the doorbell and delivers a package which puts her on an all-points bulletin bark. Lately, she's getting better and just grrring sometimes. I found it's a good ice-breaker to be talking to a VP of something important, have the bark blast into the call, and then talk dogs for a bit.
