Twenty two years after making its debut at Cowes Week in 1990, the unique amphibious Land Rover Discovery has taken to the water again in Lake Geneva.
The Land Rover stand at the Geneva Motor Show is showcasing the one millionth Land Rover Discovery as well as launching the new Evoque convertible - the most talked about car at the show.
The water-going Discovery was built by Land Rover's Special Vehicles Department originally to promote Land Rover's sponsorship of Cowes Week and is part of Land Rover's heritage fleet, which were available for special drives on the shores of Lake Geneva during the motor show. Heritage models from the past 23 years of production, including the first Discovery off the production line in 1989 and a Series I Land Rover from 1957 were on hand.
The recently restored amphibious Discovery literally made a splash as it was driven into Lake Geneva where it motored about to demonstrate Land Rover's legendary go-anywhere capability.
