Hello from the Pastel Society of North Carolina!

Marla Baggetta, www.marlabaggettastudio.com, will be the juror for the Statewide Pastel Juried Exhibition sponsored by all three Pastel Societies.  She will also be teaching two workshops over a six day period on the NC State University campus. The first workshop will be plein air and and the second a studio class. Maximum class size is 15, so there will be the opportunity for a lot of individual attention.  Housing will be available at NCSU at university apartments for $38 per night.

Meeting Announcement

The Pastel Society of North Carolina is an organization dedicated to providing opportunities for social interaction and education for pastel artists through meetings, shows, juried exhibitions and other events. We welcome all levels of accomplishment—from beginners to professional artists.

Meetings for the society are held monthly on the 3rd Saturday of each of the following months (January, February, March, April, May, September, October and November) from 11am – 1pm (unless otherwise scheduled).

March 17 – Our next meeting will be held at the NC Botanical Gardens in Chapel Hill,  from 10am – 12pm. Dr. Natalie Winters will be giving an inspirational presentation on creativity. Come and be inspired to paint! For directions to the Botanical Gardens, click here.

April 21 – Mona Hearne, The Munsell Color System. Learn a new way to think about color – this could revitalize the way you paint! Location and time TBA.

May 19 – L. Diane Johnson, Painting the Four Seasons in Pastel. This meeting will be held at Yates Mill Park in Raleigh, 11am – 1pm. Learn how Diane approaches painting throughout the year. PSNC Photo Depot

All of us have trouble finding good reference photos from time to time, so we have decided to build a repository of copyright-free images donated by our members. Anyone who wishes to participate may bring as many 5x7 or 8x10 color prints of any photo they wish to release permission to use to our monthly meetings. There will be no cost to use the photos and therefore no compensation to the photographer. By sharing in this way, we can all become better artists. We hope you'll contribute to this resource!
