I heard back from all but one of my agents. They all were very pleased, but would pass this time. I'm pretty pleased, all in all. I got a few requests for manuscripts and some nice rejections. My pitch letters must not have been total trash.

I've kicked out another short story called Cinnamon, Cayenne and Fire. My writers group had a lot of good to say about it and I'll be sending it off to The Missouri Review and a couple other lit mags. If any of my shorts would crack the top market, I'm betting on this one.

This might be the last short for a little while. I've got a new book brewing in my head. I haven't worked out all the details, but I do know it is based in Kansas City, has a lot of fighters on bicycles, and is a post-apocalyptic fantasy. While there is some great stuff swimming about in my head, that head is a foggy, murky fishbowl of sorts. So, for now, I'm writing down the little snippets of ideas they float into view and I hope the more I happen across the clearer the glass will get. Wish me luck.

What's been on the iPod: The Forsyte Saga, by John Galsworthy (surprisingly relevant for an early 1900's book); The Haunting of Hill House, by Shirley Jackson; and currently Feed, by M.T. Anderson (his take on where consumerism and internet are taking us is horribly plausible).
