Welcome to Oatlands!

A stately mansion, beautiful rolling farmland, exquisite gardens, a repository of more than 200 years of American history and culture all of these can be found at Oatlands Historic House and Gardens near Leesburg, Virginia.

Established in the early 19th century by George Carter, Oatlands was a thriving wheat plantation and base for numerous business enterprises until the time of the Civil War. During most of the 20th century Oatlands served as the country estate of Mr. and Mrs. William Corcoran Eustis, affluent Washingtonians with strong ties to the American political arena.

Now a National Trust Historic Site and a National Historic Landmark, Oatlands is flourishing with four full seasons of activities. Come visit this beautiful part of Virginia with its important historic landscape, hear the stories Oatlands has to tell, discover the history of the place and its personalities, and enjoy the many programs and events at Oatlands.

Solo acoustic artist Kerry McCool provides the tunes, Oatlands wonderful guides provide the tours!  This FREE event is Oatlands' annual celebration of Spring.  Kerry treats us to new favorites and old throughout the afternoon, while Oatlands guides help guests explore history.

This year's special guests are Confederate General D.H. Hill, who led the withdrawal from Leesburg in March of 1862, and his wife, Isabella.  Oatlands is grateful to Mr. Doug Batson, who provides a first person interpretation of D.H. Hill, and Terri Batson, portraying Isabella Hill.  The two describe their experiences in a reenacted exchange of letters from the gloomy 12-day march.  Mr. Batson's website is www.dhhill.org

Oatlands is grateful to our event sponsors, who will be on-site all afternoon to talk with visitors about their products and services.  Sponsors for this event include:

-Willowcroft Farm Vineyards, offering tastings from Loudoun's oldest winery.
-T. Elizabeth Renich, author of the Shadowcreek Chronicles set in Northern Virginia during the Civil War.  Ms. Renich will be happy to sign her books, which she will have available for purchase.
-WD Designs, offering beautiful jewelry designed to benefit charity.  WD Designs is the Loudoun County Chamber 2011 Home Based Business of the Year!  They will unveil their Oatlands bracelet at Tunes and Tours.

Oatlands gift shop will be open, with new items for Spring!

Come spend a wonderful Sunday afternoon at Oatlands.
