Bryan Menell, Managing Editor

Bryan Menell is the Director of the Collaboratory for the Dachis Group. He has 20 years of experience in technology services, having founded Exact Systems (1991), Perficient (1997), and Fusion Learning Systems (2001).

He is active in Austin’s technology scene, and is a co-founder and Managing Director of Capital Factory, a seed stage mentoring program for technology companies. Bryan is the publisher of AustinStartup, which highlights emerging technology companies in Austin, and he serves as an advisor to a select group of companies such as Socialware. He also serves on the board of the Austin chapter of Texchange.

Bryan began his career in the San Francisco office of Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). He earned a bachelors degree in Business/MIS at California State University at Chico. He was a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year, and recipient of an Austin Under 40 Award.

Steve Guengerich

For more than 20 years, Steve Guengerich has played a leadership role in information technology services and software companies. Steve currently serves as Executive Producer for Appconomy and Managing Director for BroadBrush Ventures (BBV).

Previously, Steve was an early member of the management team at nGenera Corporation and, before that, built up the information technology practice for Bridgepoint Consulting.

Steve began his career with Arthur Andersen & Co.’s MICD division (which subsequently became Andersen Consulting, now Accenture) and Pricewaterhouse-Cooper’s consulting group (now part of IBM Global Services) where, in both cases, he specialized in advanced technologies.

George Dearing

George Dearing is a technology executive with more than two decades of experience in strategy, marketing and enterprise software. He founded the Dearing Group and consults with companies on technology and sustainability. Prior to that, George held senior positions with USWeb, Telligent and other high-growth startups.He is Editor of Content Management Connection and has written about technology and communications for a wide range of publications including AustinStartup, InformationWeek, CMO Council and AIIM Magazine. George has a B.A in Journalism and PR from the University of Houston – University Park.

Kenny Madden

Kenny is currently director of market development at Austin based Spiceworks, the fastest growing IT social business network. Kenny has spent his career helping accelerate sales of technology products at high growth companies including Spiceworks, CA Technologies, Motive and AlterPoint. Prior Spiceworks he held various sales & marketing positions at a number of companies including He has extensive experience in sales development, lead generation. Kenny earned a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, Philosophy and the history of Art from the University of Reading, Berkshire in the United Kingdom.
