John began writing songs while working as a house painter in Crested Butte, Colorado. He worked as a production assistant for Warner Brothers and HBO in Los Angeles, published two short stories, won awards at international film festivals and worked in a liquor store before earning an MA in creative writing at the University of Southern Mississippi. John Mancini Band's self-produced 2009 debut album, JMB, won recognition from Billboard and Relix Magazine and received positive reviews in the U.S. and U.K., earning its namesake comparisons to songwriters Randy Newman, John Fogerty, Dr. John, and Bob Marley. The band's second full-length album, Sun King, which was released earlier this year, was recently added to Pandora radio's music genome project. Over the past three years John Mancini Band has built a loyal fan base that voted them onto the Jambands.com homepage in 2010. They've licensed their songs for television placements through Crucial Music and Hella Good Records, and they have enjoyed AAA radio airplay locally and across the country.

It's been five years and two albums since Three Legged Fox came together as a four piece band in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia PA. Kyle Wareham, Kory Kochersperger, and Mark Carson have played more than 350 shows, and have supported almost every major national reggae band that America has to offer. Looking back on their history to date, Wareham (lead vocalist and rhythm guitars) explains, "We've come to understand that those first five years were the groundwork, the foundation for this year, this new album, and ultimately this moment." In August, Three Legged Fox will release their third studio album called Always Anyway; a collection of songs to be their coming out, their 'hello' to the world.
The Infamous Stringdusters are doing something right. They've earned critical acclaim, from their inception, awards and nominations aplenty, host their own successful music festival, have their own record label and a quickly growing and enthusiastic fan base across the country. They sound like no one else, combining virtuosic chops on five traditional bluegrass instruments, with an ethos on pushing the genre forward. The Stringdusters are taking improvised string band music to new places, combining musicianship, songwriting and experimental performance. As the band's newest record, We'll Do It Live shows, a Stringdusters performance is ecstatic, with contagious energy flowing between the band and crowd. At each show you'll see the band relaxed and having fun, while focusing on the music, "podding up" and directing swells of energy from their fans.

Toots and the Maytals, originally called simply The Maytals, are considered legends of ska and reggae music. Their sound is a unique, original combination of gospel, ska, soul, reggae and rock. Frederick “Toots” Hibbert, the leader of the group, was born in May Pen in the Parish of Clarendon, Jamaica. He was the youngest of seven children. He grew up singing gospel music in a church choir, but moved to Kingston in 1961 at the tender age of sixteen. The band recently won the 2005 Grammy award for best reggae album True Love, an album consisting of re-recorded versions of their classics alongside popular and legendary musicians such as Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Eric Clapton, and Keith Richards, as well as popular artists today such as No Doubt, Ben Harper, The Roots, and Shaggy. Toots and the Maytals remains a relevant influence on today’s global music scene with artists from Amy Winehouse to Sublime re-recording classic tracks. Toots recieved another Grammy nomination for his 2008 release “Light Your Light. In recent years Toots has toured with The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews, Sheryl Crow and Los Lonely Boys.
The Constellations could have called their debut album After Hours. Sure, Martin Scorsese already used that name for his 1985 black comedy, but the two works share much in common. Both are wide screen spectacles rife with seedy scenes and eccentric personalities, propelled by a manic energy that hustles the audience deeper into the unexpected. But Southern Gothic was a better choice. Because The Constellations stomping ground is Atlanta, GA, and in the wee small hours of the morning, A-Town can get awfully bizarre.
Some bands are recognized for their outstanding live show, others for their prowess in the studio. Philadelphia's Brothers Past garners accolades on both fronts, emerging at the forefront of electro-rock with a willingness to blend various styles seamlessly into an original sound. Yet, whether live or in the studio, the art of songcraft is the prevailing element in their music.
Blending classic, alternative, and psychedelic rock styles with funk, reggae, blues, and jazz influences, Second Self carefully balances crafted songwriting with intricate rhythms and live improvisation. The result is music ranging from ethereal ambience to high intensity rock.
Old Man Brown is based in the Baltimore area, playing original Rock, Blues, Soul and Funk that honors earlier traditions with respectful arrangements and the highest standards of musicianship. Brooks Long is an equal parts soul shouter and pop poet. Melding the traditions of vintage R&B and Blues (think Otis Redding and Muddy Waters) with the aesthetics of classic singer/songwriters (Dylan, Randy Newman), he brings the old school into the 21st century in a style all his own. Whether by himself or with his backing band, the funky, righteous Mad Dog No Good, he brings to his live shows the kind of passion, energy and humor rare in today's music scene.
Railroad Earth is one of America’s greatest bands playing today, plain and simple. They sing of our nation’s changing landscape and social ills with a commitment reminiscent of Woody Guthrie, while interpolating instrumental timbres that could have been pulled from Celtic or Cajun culture. And as anyone who has caught them live will attest, their concerts are imbued with the fire-in-the-belly passion of straight-ahead, blue collar rock & roll. Then there is the newest album from the New Jersey sextet, which is the most cohesive embodiment of their myriad gifts to date—hence the decision to simply call it Railroad Earth—showcasing nine new selections that draw strength and inspiration from an acknowledgment of our shared past, while also embracing new ideas and celebrating diversity… just like America when she is at her best.

The band, founded by singer/songwriter Craig “Chowder” Boynton, was created by pulling from members of long time local favorites Gypsy Dawg and adding an earth shaking bass player from Radio Mosaic, Chris Sussman. This particular conglomeration has connected from day one and has continued to settle into creating its own unique sound in today’s vast sea of Jam bands. Dawgone performs a lot of their own material and intertwines these songs with choice “Hippie Rock” cover tunes that fit like a glove along side of the originals. Come on out and experience the “Dawgone” sound... it will make your ears smile!
