I’ve never been to an event like this. What happens?

TORONTO COMICON as presented by FAN EXPO CANADA™ has now grown to become a spectacular 2 day event!

Located in the South Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the show will be boasting unique exhibitors, presentations, workshops and many celebrity guests.

Where is it?

The Metro Toronto Convention Center, 222 Bremner Blvd, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. South Building. Just East of Skydome and the CN Tower. St.Andrews is the closest Subway stop, and Parking is available at and around the facility.

What are the hours of the show?

Saturday: 11AM – 6PM
>Sunday: 11AM – 5PM

What are the rules on photography and videotaping?

Please use common sense when taking photographs and ask your subjects if it is okay to photograph them. Video is not restricted, except during stage presentations but photographs are always permitted.

GLOSSARY: CONVENTION TERMS

Chair: Short form of `Chairperson’ or better known as `Boss’.

Con: Short form of `Convention’, the type of event your at.

Concom: Short form of `Convention Committee’, the group who put everything together.

Fan: Short form for a `Fanatic’.

Fandom: the community of people who enjoy popular culture, who visit conventions, and take part.

Fen: many fans, plural of fan.

Filk or Filking: the `music’ of a very small part of fandom.

Goh: Short form of `Guest(s) of Honour’.

Neo: person who has never been to an event like this, if this is your 1st expo, you’re a `Neo’.

Panels: Discussion sessions, usually involving the guests, on topics related to the specific genre.

Pros: Short for `Professional’ meaning one who makes a living at writing, acting, editing, etc.

Registration: the act of gaining a membership to a convention.
