About Spirit of the Century

It’s easy to look at our setting, Spirit of the Century, and think it’s solely about telling tales from a bygone era, but it’s about so much more than that. It’s about embracing the best spirit of pulp adventure tales—about grabbing hold of the optimism and ingenuity there, and finding ways both old and new to explore the stories of heroes.

Our earliest foray into this was in a roleplaying game titled, strangely enough, Spirit of the Century. We published it in 2006, and it quickly turned into a hit, garnering a Silver ENnie and several Indie RPG Award accolades. By the thousands, gamers have been running around in this crazy, early-20th-Century pulp universe filled with talking apes and mad scientists for the past six years, and it’s been a rollicking good time.

Starting in 2012, following our success with The Dresden Files Roleplaying Game, we decided it’s time to expand the places this universe can go. The Dinocalypse Trilogy is our first step on that path, to be followed by the Race to Adventure! board game and the Zeppelin Armada card game. Because the good times that come with pulp adventure are too big, brassy, and bold to be contained in a single form.

We’re glad to have you along for the ride!
