Happy Mermaid Person

Welcome to my blog! Here I weave prose with sprinklings of poetry about Spirituality, Psychiatry and Writing. My offerings come from an intermingling of the different aspects of myself.  I hold an earned PhD in Nursing- I am a psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and work in community based mental health with a focus in Addictions.

I am also a Spiritualist, channeler and a  medium for healing. As an initiated priestess of Yemaya in the Orisha tradition, my writings are from the perspective of one who is in awe of the power of the Universes. I have a profound love and respect for Nature. I consider myself a warrior for the healing and reconstruction of our troubled planet. 

As a writer, I blend Spiritualism and Santeria and create stories that some may call “paranormal,” but that  I term, “normal.” I write mostly about Latinas who do what it takes to squeeze out of the expectations of traditional women’s roles and create new and wondrous lives. 

On Thursdays, I post a weekly blog that encompasses the realms of spirituality,  psychiatry or simple writings and perspectives of my wonderfully mundane world. My muse whispers the subject matter to me and leaves it up to me to share my thoughts, visions and offerings.  They are urban inspired although some of my most precious time is on the beach or in the woods where I find peace, solace and all those other things that we cherish.

On Sundays, I post a blog entry for my column that I call Palabras: Spiritual Oracle. The content is made of channeled information I’ve gathered from pulling a card from the oracle I am in the process of designing. I channel these weekly messages from Graciella la Gitana- she is my most sexy and vivacious spirit guide. The oracle is still in the developmental stages but they are much too fun to sit on a shelf waiting for completion. Really, how many of us would like to wait until we are complete before showing ourselves off? The cards are in the “coloring” stage that is being done by my daughter, Mara Cordova. She also “hears” Graciella. The cards are nearing completion.
