One of the most prominent figures of the Festival d’Avignon 2009, Wajdi Mouawad has proven himself a playwright power house to be reckoned with. Javier Vallejo of El País says, “Es un poeta del escenario. Sólo eso. Escribe con la respiración rítmica del corredor de fondo.” Beirut born and in political exile for much of his life, he has had to deal with tragedy on a very real level. As a child in the ‘70s in Beirut, he saw Christian militants mow down a bus of Palestinian refugees with automatic machine guns. The art of Wajdi reflects his need to recreate a world where … >>

Pep Gómez and Andrea Lorenzetti don’t stop popping up. They will take your idea of lovable, huggable puppeteers singing for happy children and smash it on the rocks. These shows are for adults, and this month you (and Tot Festival) get a good one. Their Jardín Umbrío is an puppet interpretation of the show by the same name written by Ramón del Valle-Inclán featuring four different puppet types for four different scenes.

There’s a great video of the band jamming on the sterile set of an American weekly morning youth show. It’s a pleasure to watch stage hands chase the bolting Spencer from one side of the studio to the other as he drags equipment behind him, swatting camera men out of the way, climbing into the stands to rile up a nervous audience. The new Mutuo space is a great venue for the singer songwriter folk this Barcelona local spouts. You will wish you were on a porch somewhere bayou-esque sitting in a rocking chair with a jaw harp and a jug of moonshine. “Give and take” and “Gone too long”, for example.

Today, two tentacles come together as the chiefs of the communal orchards/gardens bring their knowledge and their cooking skills to the PIC (Punt d’Interacció de Collserola) to spread the love. Is it too much to hope they might be cooking with their freshest ingredients? And, as if that wasn’t eco-awesome enough, you can take an hour to learn how to make
