Participants Tropical Treasures sign contract
01 February 2012Tropical Treasures is an enormous tropical greenhouse spanning 1,700 m2 on the Education & Innovation themed zone. The plants and exhibits on show here come from countries including Thailand, Kenya and Mexico, but also from our own country. 21 December 2011A Rabobank delegation paid a working visit to Floriade Park on Friday, making a special stop-off at their own pavilion, Rabo Earthwalk. Building work on the anticipated crowd-puller at Floriade 2012 got under way some months ago, reaching its high point this week. 51,000 visitors to the Floriade Cable Lift
18 October 2011More than 51,000 visitors have enjoyed a ride in the Floriade cable cars over the past months. This figure far exceeds the expected number of 20,000 visitors. School classes, organised coach trips, company outings and thousands of cyclists all found their way to the Floriade. Last Sunday offered the final opportunity to view the landscaping of the Floriade park from the cable lift, and with almost 2000 visitors it was also the busiest day since the ride opened on 16 April. Indonesia and Yemen officially at Floriade
06 December 2010A delegation of the government of Indonesia has visited the Floriade. During that visit Indonesia officially registered for participation in Floriade 2012.A delegation from Yemen also travelled to Venlo to officially sign a participation contract. Sodexo gastronomic partner
09 November 2010Sodexo will be the main strategic partner for the catering services at Floriade 2012. This was announced today in a joint declaration. The Floriade site will offer facilities including five themed restaurants, five kiosks and an international "Food Festival". Sodexo will be responsible for managing all these facilities. The contract was awarded to Sodexo following a two year selection procedure. First flower bulbs planted
19 October 2010Last Monday the first flower bulbs for Floriade 2012 were planted. No fewer than 67,000 naturalising flower bulbs went into the soil in the Kapelbos in the Environment themed zone. They were joined by some 6700 perennials. One of the designers of the flower bulb concept for the Floriade park is Jacqueline van der Kloet, in cooperation with the landscape architects at ARCADIS. In the Netherlands, Jacqueline van der Kloet has devised planting schemes for projects such as the Keukenhof, the Efteling, Artis and previous editions of Floriade.
