Docent Tours

In recognition of the broad range of subject matter embraced by serious visual artists throughout history, the Board of Directors and professional staff of Crooked Tree Arts Center recommend that all teachers of elementary through high school students preview exhibits at the Arts Center, in person, prior to bringing students through a show.  Learn More

21st Century Arts Program
Crooked Tree Arts Center has partnered with Char-Em ISD through their 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant to provide outreach opportunities in the arts for students in eight qualifying Northern Michigan school districts. Learn More.

Dorothy Gerber Music Program
The Strings Program in the Schools is offered to students in local community schools through the support of the Dorothy Gerber Music Education Foundation. String classes are offered at two seperate playing levels:

Beginning Strings - Students from the 3rd grade and up with no prior strings knowledge can learn how to play the violin, viola, cello, or string bass.

Intermediate Strings - Students with successful completion of the Beginning Strings class or at least one year of prior playing experience on a string instrument. After completion of the Intermediate strings class students advance to the Concert Orchestra with the Crooked Tree Youth Orchestras program.

Young Writers Expo

The Young Writers Expo showcases writiing, both poetry and prose,  from Elementary, Middle School and High School students.  Each year student work is entered and  juried.  The winning entries are published in the Petoskey News-Review and students attend an awards reception where they can read their work aloud.  Learn More
