www.eastriding.gov.uk - powered by Easysite

We’re really pleased to tell you, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, have been ranked in the Top 20 local government websites in this year’s Socitm Better Connected report.

This year Socitm’s website reviewers have been particularly looking at ease of use and ease of navigation and accessibility, stating websites should: “no longer aim for the most comprehensive website possible” and “the design of the website should be focused on top tasks”. Top tasks being those tasks visitors most regularly use: applying for jobs, commenting on a planning application, finding information on bin collections etc.

Following an extensive redesign of their website using a customer centric approach, East Riding have made a huge leap from their 2011 One Star rating to achieving the maximum, a Four Star rating this year. The Four Star ranking places them within Soctim’s much sort after ‘Top 20 Council Websites’ and achieving this within the space of just 12 months and at relatively low cost, it is all the more impressive.

My favourite site this year is East Riding. A great deal of work has gone into redesigning this site and it shows. It has a very strong focus on actions and enabling citizens to get tasks done quickly… Throughout the site, I find most things I am looking for very easily and there is useful and detailed information when I get there.”

-Better Connected Report 2012

As well as redesigning their site to be more user friendly East Riding have utilised a range of Easysite modules, such as Mapping, Directories and Forms to enhance their visitor’s experience further…

The site offers a wide range of online forms, which are just two clicks away from the home page through the ‘Do’ section. The site makes widespread use of postcode search and maps throughout the site.”

-Better Connected Report 2012

Commenting on East Riding’s success, Dr Hugh Smith, CEO of EIBS Ltd (the company behind Easysite) said:

We’re delighted to be working with East Riding of Yorkshire Council, in many ways they are the ideal customer as they make full use of Easysite software. As well as the systems standard features they’ve made their own customisations using Easysite’s API. They’ve made dramatic improvements to their site over the past twelve months and deserve all the praise they have received in this year’s Better Connected report. We’re looking forward to working with them for a long time to come.

Easysite’s powerful search engine and intuitive page builder makes it easy for organisations to build brilliant, easy to navigate websites. For more information why not contact our sales team for an initial discussion, it might just be the solution you’re looking for.
