We believe that:
- The humanitarian community should be as effective and as efficient as possible, focused on saving and ensuring life with dignity. The humanitarian community does not currently function at this level, suffering in particular from poor management and weak accountability.
- Effective management is based on effective decision-making; effective decision-making is only possible with accurate, timely and relevant information. Information management tools and techniques create the potential for organisations to create and access such information, forming the basis for better management.
- It is therefore essential for information management to be at the heart of humanitarian work, supporting all aspects of relief operations. Better information management will also make delivery of relief more transparent to beneficaries and donors, improving accountability in the humanitarian sector.
