About Fr. John

A native of Erie, PA, Fr. John Matusiak received a BA in Communications from Iona College, New Rochelle, NY before receiving a M.Div. from St. Vladimir's Seminary in 1975. He has served parishes in Shillington, PA; Minneapolis, MN; and, since 1989, Wheaton, IL, where he is the founding rector of Saint Joseph Church. Currently he also serves as Managing Editor of The Orthodox Church magazine and as Senior Editor of the OCA web site. Former vice-president of Syndesmos, the World Fellowship of Orthodox Youth, he has also served on various OCA departments, including youth, religious education, and evangelization. For years, he worked with the Orthodox Christian Education Commission as editor of "On The Upbeat" and regular contributor to "Young Life" and "Concern" magazines. Fr. John is married to the former Barbara Zelina of Campbell, OH, and the Matusiaks are the parents of two children—Protodeacon Joseph [Nina] and Juliana [Eric] Meng— and the grandparents of five children.
