ADAMS CAMP

Summer 2011:  The downhill trail, to be named in honor of Kimmer Adams, is nearly complete.  Its ridable but needs some final armoring and refinement.  Once things get a little drier and the snow has melted we'll be out there finishing it.  We have raised over $20,000 for this trail so far but we could always use more.  We still have lay out the climb and build it. 

The Adams Camp parcel of the Trapp Family Lodge property is little more than 500 acres of land and abuts the Mansfield Touring Center. You can access the property from the Haul Road or from the Burt Trail which connects with Route 108 just north of the Matterhorn. Many know this access point as the bottom of the Bruce Trail. The goal for this coming summer is to build a 3 mile dedicated downhill trail off of the Ranch Camp as well as armor, culvert and ditch the Stowe Derby Trail to make it usable in the summer and better accessed in winter. If possible, we will also create a trail that will climb the hill switch backing from the Derby Trail up to the Haul Road completing the loop. 

The money will help us pay professional trail builders, buy materials for bridges and drainage and rent equipment if needed.  Most of the actual work will be done by us, the members of the Stowe Mountain Bike Club, and other volunteers.  Please join us.
 

RIDE CENTER

IMBA Ride Centers will be extensive trail networks, masterfully designed for mountain bikers of every skill level and built by professional trail builders. They will serve as social and educational hubs, where visitors can connect and learn new riding techniques. The centers will provide the full range of mountain biking experiences today's riders crave, from long single track journeys to family-friendly loops, and areas with expertly designed technical challenges - including sustainable downhill and free riding options - to test accomplished riders.

The locations will be contingent on partners at the federal, state and private level. IMBA's network of 750 affiliated clubs and patrols units will play a vital role in this program. IMBA Ride Center locations will integrate the volunteer stewardship of these groups, resulting in self-sustaining trail systems that are maintained and nurtured by their constituents.

Ride Centers will also bring major economic benefits to their host communities. IMBA has compiled online resources that describe they ways that mountain biking supports tourism and enhances economic development in communities around the globe.
