The Conduit

spacer

In April of 2011, soon after I left AOL Music, I partnered with one of my former writers to publish The Conduit. Our mission was grand; “cutting through the online static to bring you a weekly email digest of the finest metal and noise.”

Every Friday we’d ship an email packed with links to song premieres, great interviews and news that metal heads needed. Continue reading

Portfolio

I’ve been working online since 1995, launching my own music blog in 2001 and working for clients like AOL, Field & Stream Magazine and AOL Music.

I can write, manage an editorial team, code HTML newsletters, edit video and audio, create header images for your blog, overhaul Big Cartel shops, build blogs, run social media, streamline workflows and bake amazing chocolate chip cookies.

I’ve got 10+ years experience on the internet, and I’m always stoked to work with great people on great projects, even if it’s just to hop on the phone for an hour and discuss how to rock Twitter or swap large files with the rest of your team. Let’s talk. Contact me by email (sethw@sethw.com) or give a call at 917-512-3961.

Tiny Music Pages

Maybe this has happened to you. I know it’s happened to me.

I’ll be on a bus, with many hours of boredom ahead of me. I’ll be scrolling through Twitter (follow me, I’m @sethw) and then someone RT’s a song premiere that I want to hear.

If the link goes to something like Facebook or BandCamp, I’m not clicking. Safari on the iPhone 4 is great, but the experience is still awful. And if the song is on a music blog? Forget it. Continue reading

Monetize Your Blog

@lisettevoytko monetize! Haha

— Seth Werkheiser (@sethw) March 10, 2012

My friend Lisette Voytko landed on Reddit, a popular user-generated site of interesting & newsy links. With the expected spike in traffic, I replied, “monetize!” Meaning, turn that traffic to your blog into cold hard cash! But then she called me out and asked, “how?”

Well, here’s a few ways I’ve monetized my blog(s) over the last few years. Continue reading

How I Made $125 on Etsy

spacer For the past year and a half I’ve been drawing robots. I’ve uploaded a few to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. I thought nothing of it, really.

Then one day someone on Twitter @replied me, telling me she just had a baby boy and they decorated their room in robots and wanted to know if they could buy some of mine.

Woah. Continue reading
