The Birdhouse Thing 2012

Take flight and support the youth of your community at The 11th Annual Birdhouse Thing on Thursday, March 8, 2012. Each year, event organizers provide wooden birdhouses to local Nashville visual artists, architects, and public figures who then fashion a truly unique piece of work by adding their own artful design. These birdhouses, designed by local artists along with other unique works of art and gift packages will be available at both live and silent auction at the event.  Contributing artists for this year's event include: Deerie Carlton, Vickie Vance Fowler, Bob McGill, Barbara Coon, Jacqueline Saporiti, Ron York, Ted Clayton, Rob Hendon and many more!

The Birdhouse Thing has raised more than half a million dollars in the ten years since its inception and helped to raise the money that resulted in the fall 2008 opening of the new W.O. Smith Music School. The prominent, award winning building sits at the corner of 8th & Edgehill Avenues and features 22,000 square feet of usable space including a 200 seat performance hall, a music library, an instrument library, five music labs, fourteen teaching studios and a recording studio.

Purchase tickets online now for $50 each.  Guests who purchase tickets will enjoy delicious hors d'oeuvres provided by a wide variety of Nashville's top caterers, specialty food shops, and popular dining eateries as well as fine wine and a selection of local rums.

Also, many national recording artists have donated concert tickets and meet and greet passes for a stop on their 2012 tour. These ticket packages will be available to the public via online auction in the coming weeks. Participants in previous years have included Lady Antebelum, Alan Jackson, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Lee Ann Womack, Josh Turner, Darius Rucker, Sara Evans, Gretchen Wilson, Wynonna, Phil Vassar, Chris Young and many, many more. These celebrity auction items will be available via online auction at www.mclemoreauction.com.

You can support The Birdhouse Thing and the W.O. Smith Music School by sponsoring the event, or by making in-kind donations for the live and silent auctions. Sample in-kind donations include artwork, gift certificates, tickets to shows, a round of golf, jewelry, and collectables. For more information, call 615.255.8355. Be sure to check out photos from past years in the event archive.
