THE MYSTERIOUS UNIVERSE by Ellen Jackson

CONGRATULATIONS TO BRIAN P. SCHMIDT AND ADAM RIESS, WINNERS OF THE 2011 NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSICS! Read about their discoveries in THE MYSTERIOUS UNIVERSE by Ellen Jackson.

Strange as it may seem, 96 percent of the universe seems to be made of two ingredients that no one understands.' "...a shining addition to the Scientists in the Field series.." Kirkus, (starred review)

"[The book] focuses on viscerally fascinating celestial subjects: supernovae, dark energy, and black holes. These are fairly complex matters, but Jacksons treatment makes them accessible through reasoned explanations and comparisons, helpful diagrams, and, of course, dazzling photographs of the universes most awesome spectacles." Booklist

Ellen and Abby

Hello. I'm Ellen Jackson, and I'm the author of more than 60 books for children. Being an author is the best job in the world. I get to go to work in my pajamas, write for a few hours, then spend time with my dog and husband, who also works at home (the husband, not the dog). Abby (the dog) sleeps under the computer and keeps my toes warm when Im writing.

My books have won many awards, but the best part of my day is getting a letter from a child who has read and enjoyed something I've written. Reading has always been an important part of my life, and I hope it's an important part of yours.
