PANELISTS:

FAUZIA BURKE is the Founder and President of FSB Associates, an Internet marketing firm specializing in creating online awareness for books and authors. From the company's inception in 1995, Fauzia has been a trendsetter in developing integrated online marketing campaigns for authors and publishers alike. FSB has played a role in the success of numerous chart-toppers, including novels by Daniel Silva, Mitch Albom, Michael Cunningham, Tana French, Barbara Delinsky, Jonathan Franzen, Sue Grafton, and Jacqueline Winspear; and nonfiction titles by Doug Stanton, Alan Alda, Barbara Ehrenreich, Dr. Arthur Agatston, Al Gore, Linda Greenlaw, Tony Horwitz, Richard A. Clarke, Vincent Bugliosi, Marlo Thomas, and Bob Woodruff.

Before starting FSB Associates, Fauzia worked for John Wiley and Henry Holt. She lives in Basking Ridge, NJ with her husband and two daughters.

PETER COSTANZO, Director of Online Marketing, Perseus Books Group. Peter Costanzo began his online career by selling autographed books via the World Wide Web in 1996. In 1998 he was the Online Retail Marketing Manager for HarperCollins’ Online Sales department. In 2000 he worked at Random House as the Online Marketing Manager for the Audio Books division and in 2001 became Director of Online Merchandising for Contentville.com. From 2001 until 2004 Peter was a freelance online marketing consultant for the publishing industry servicing clients such as Walker & Co., FSG, Basic Books, and others. In 2004 he began as Director of Online Marketing for The Perseus Books Group and presently holds that position.

ANDREA FLECK-NISBET is the Director of Digital and Online Sales and Marketing at Workman Publishing. She got her start at Workman eight years ago in Special Markets before moving to online sales and marketing, and digital development. Andrea oversees sales of Workman's six divisions plus Black Dog & Leventhal to Amazon, B&N.com and other online retailers. She works closely with the web development and publicity departments to create holistic marketing campaigns for the Workman list and to leverage the visibility of Workman's major brands on the web. Most recently, Andrea has added digital book sales, marketing and distribution to her responsibilities. In this capacity, Andrea manages the rights, conversion, and distribution of Workman's e-books, oversees relationships with e-book retailers and works with the digital development team to create and distribute new digital product. Andrea is a stickler for clean and complete metadata, which she believes is the single, most important component of online sales and marketing. She lives in Brooklyn.

RON HOGAN helped create the literary Internet by launching Beatrice.com in 1995. In January 2010, after writing about the business side of publishing as a senior editor for GalleyCat for several years, he became the director of e-marketing strategy for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

KELLY LEONARD, Executive Director, Online Marketing at Hachette Book Group, www.HachetteBookGroup.com, Kelly Leonard launched Hachette Book Group’s first steps into web publicity and online marketing in the mid-90s. Previously, she served as a Dell Publishing’s Senior Publicist and Warner Books’ Publicity Manager. Today, Kelly is responsible for directing the Book Group’s online initiatives, social media engagement, marketing apps, and adult trade book and author features on www.HachetteBookGroup.com and its companion e-newsletters. Kelly and her team also individually "hand market" over 300 titles a year to numerous social networks, web site editors, and bloggers in the US and Canada. HBG was one of the first US trade publishers to engage with readers on Twitter back in July 2008. As of early February 2010, HBG imprint accounts have over 34,000+ Followers. Kelly is a graduate of California Lutheran University and studied Irish culture and history at Trinity College, Dublin. She is active on several social networks in addition to Twitter including Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Triibes, YouTube, Flickr, and Ning. In 2010, Kelly is especially excited about LBS (location-based social networking) and is active on Foursquare, Gowalla, and Yelp. She maintains her own blog at kellyleonard.tv and can be found on Twitter @kellyleonard.

KATE RADOS is Director of Digital Initiatives for Chelsea Green Publishing. Before this position, Kate created Sterling Publishing’s (a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble, Inc.) digital presence by rolling up her sleeves to implement their eBook program, executing the relaunch of multiple business and consumer websites, defining their digital marketing strategy, and effectively taking a traditional publishing house into the digital age.

Nothing about Kate’s career has been cookie-cutter. She started as a Casting Director for MTV Networks, hiring voiceover talent for the hit series ‘Celebrity Deathmatch’ (yes, the one with the puppets!) and other animated series and commercials. Her next move was to the food capital of television, Food Network, where she launched the careers of Rachael Ray, Paula Deen, Sandra Lee, Giada DeLaurentiis, and immediately gained 20 pounds.

Kate never takes off her consumer hat, approaches each project with a can-do attitude and is always ready with a witty comment to make everyone smile. She attributes her theater training as the best resource for dealing with any situation and is a self-proclaimed gadget geek. In her spare time, Kate is a vocalist and can frequently be seen rocking out in karaoke bars across Manhattan.

ABBY STOKES, www.abbyandme.com, has demystified computers for over 100,000 people, mostly seniors, in the course of the past 15 years. She is author of “Is This Thing On?” A Computer Handbook for Late Bloomers, Technophobes, and the Kicking & Screaming (Workman 2008), It’s Never Too Late to Love a Computer (Workman 2001), and Dinner Party Disasters: True Stories of Culinary Catastrophe (Abrams 2007).
