Overview

Comptel's product portfolio is known as Comptel Dynamic OSS. The suite is includes products that are closedly integrated, but can be deployed independently, covering order fulfilment, charging and policy control. All solutions are fully convergent - proven in fixed, mobile and broadband environments.

Order Fulfilment

  • Comptel Fulfillment is a leading order fulfillment platform which combines service design and build funtionality with automated delivery capability across multiple networks and service platforms.
  • Comptel Order Management provides end-to-end control of the customer order, from capture to fully enabled service, through a common processing platform for voice, data, mobile, fixed and multiple technology service orders.
  • Comptel Provisioning and Activation enables operators to fully automate the process of handling subscriber orders to activate services in the network all the way up to the start of billing.
  • Comptel Service and Resource Inventory offers a consolidated inventory of mobile, broadband and next generation networks, maintaining a view of the physical, logical and service inventory required to deliver customer services.
  • Comptel Dynamic SIM Management addresses two main areas: the just-in-time allocation of numbers and services; and the full lifecycle management of SIM cards – from order to deactivation.

Infomation Management

  • Comptel Catalog enables rapid product creation and delivery for the new generation Communications Service Provider, providing functionality for both a federated Enterprise Service Catalog and a product management and delivery platform. The Catalog provides a crucial link between the fulfilment and the policy control and charging parts of the Comptel product portfolio.
  • Comptel Subscriber Profile Repository provides a live and accurate view of subscriber business data, including service configurations and allocated price plans. It allows the CSP to monitor business-critical customer status and activity information across multiple networks, and provides a single point of reference to all interested business functions.

Policy Control and Charging

  • Comptel Control and Charge is an integrated, modular solution that brings together Comptel’s existing, proven solutions for policy control (including bandwidth management and roaming cost control functionalities), charging and mediation on a single platform.
  • Comptel Policy Control provides 3GPP-compliant policy control rules functions (PCRF), which can also be used in non-standard or proprietary network environments. Comptel Policy Control is typically combined with with Comptel Charging and Comptel Mediation (Comptel Control and Charge - see above) for optimum personalization of service and price-plan offerings.
  • Comptel Charging is a modular charging solution that allows communications service providers (CSPs) to create advanced and flexible charging models for postpaid and prepaid customers. Combined with with Comptel Policy Control and Comptel Mediation (Comptel Control and Charge - see above), Comptel Charging provides the 3GPP Online Charging System (OCS) functionality needed for optimum personalization of service and price-plan offerings.
  • Comptel Convergent Mediation is the scalable platform for managing the online and offline collection and transformation of network transactions from various network types to billable records.
  • Comptel Interconnect Billing manages the financial settlement in near real time between communication service providers and other parties using each other's networks and services.

As well as subsidiaries of major groups, Comptel counts many large and small operators, as customers, inclding Bharti Airtel, China Mobile, AIS, FarEasTone, Belgacom, KPN Mobile, Swisscom AG, U.T.A Telecom, CellC, Telecom Namibia.

History

Comptel was founded in Finland in 1986, originally as a spin-off of Elisa, one of the Finnish mobile operators. Comptel originally concentrated on mediation for mobile, but over the years expanded both its market (to include fixed, cable and broadband service providers) and its product portfolio (organically and through acquisitions). Comptel is anow a global company with presence in North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle-East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

Comptel was listed on the Helsinki stock exchange in 1999.
