What's it all about?
What's in the bottle?
Lots and lots of very good stuff. Well, 6.5 billion friendly bacteria to be precise. Called Lactobacillus casei Shirota, they’re named after Dr Shirota who cultivated this unique probiotic strain. These bacteria are scientifically proven to reach the intestines alive where they top up and support the beneficial bacteria already there. The other few ingredients that make up the fermented milk drink help this bacteria stay alive. You see, with Yakult, it’s all about the bacteria. And it always will be. Read more
What is the difference between the red and blue lid?
Yakult is available in two versions – Yakult (with red lids) and Yakult Light (with blue lids). The Light version has less sugar… but other than that they are pretty much the same; both have over 6.5 billion bacteria per bottle.
How much and how often should I drink Yakult?
We recommend one bottle of Yakult daily to top up the good bacteria in your gut. But if you'd like a second bottle, that's absolutely fine. Just remember that no matter how much you may enjoy it, Yakult isn't meant to be a thirst-quencher - it's a probiotic.
Who is Yakult suitable for?
Everyone, because there is no one who does not benefit from a boost to their good bacteria. So for example, Yakult is suitable for vegetarians, diabetics, lactose-intolerants, pregnant or breastfeeding mums, gluten intolerants and people taking antibiotics. Read more
